Happy New Year!
I am very proud/excited/nervous to announce that Cities of Magick, the comic book series I co-created with Will Tempest, is being published by Scout Comics. Issue #1 will be on sale—in comic shops!!!—this March.
For those of you that have already purchased and read the first three issues, you may be wondering why I’m telling you to buy them again. You might even scoff at the idea. To you I say, please do not scoff, sir/madam. Because these new issues of Cities of Magick are not the same as the ones that came out of the Kickstarter campaigns.
Here are some of the changes we made to the issues:
All Scout issues of Cities of Magick (except for the final issue) now have backup comic stories written by Will and drawn by a Who’s Who of amazing artists. We’ve got Andrey Garin, Tristan Wright, Keegan Williams, and Guy Pradel drawing those stories and Brad Simpson coloring them. They look amazing. More than that, Will has expanded our universe in beautiful ways. I think you’ll agree that CoM just got a whole lot bigger.
Check out this panel from the story “The World Tree” that Will did with Andrey Garin and Brad Simpson.
We also have new backmatter materials, new covers, new back covers, and all manner of tweaks, upgrades, whooziwhatsits, whizzbangs, and so on. Check out Artyom Trakhanov’s variant cover for Issue #1!
Plus, there’s the whole matter of Issue #4 and Issue #5, both of which no one has read, and both of which take our characters to interesting, exciting, unexpected new places (literally, spiritually, etc.).
So, if you’d be so kind, please, pretty please, with a cherry on top, preorder Cities of Magick #1 at your local comic shop. It’s possible that some of you have never done this before. No sweat. Just write down the title (Cities of Magick #1) and the Diamond (JAN221621) and Lunar Codes (0122SC216). These codes are what retailers use to order books. All you have to do is bring that info to your local comic shop and tell them to order up, baby!
By supporting the Scout run of Cities of Magick comics early, you will ensure the long term health of the book in the direct market. And after that, it’s onto the book market (see you in bookstores later this year!). And please feel free to send this email to anyone who might be interested.
Thank you for your continued support. Pro magickus, pro civitas!
