It may not look like much at the moment, but it exists. Here’s a very early version of Island God.
Actually, to call this…thing “Island God” isn’t very accurate. It’s more like an abstraction of certain aspects of Island God. Not much of a game really.
The process I’ve undergone to convert my paper prototype into a digital one has been absolutely grueling. As far as computer programming is concerned, I rate as a Delta-Level Moron, so trying to get a turn-based tactics god sim up and running in javascript has been like trying to paint the sistine chapel with a Tippman 98.
Right now, I have a volcano that spews out “lava” in different directions and at different speeds. The Island God, such as it is (a dark green square), can intercept the lava before the lava does damage to the greenery (light green squares) of the island. Of course, as soon as the interception happens, the lava is disappeared from the game, never to be seen again. I have no idea how to get it to respawn. But that’s on my to do list.
If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you may be saying, “Hey, you duplicitous bastard! This game was supposed to take place on a hex grid.”
And I’d say, “Well, thanks for paying attention to the development of my game, but hex math is incredibly complicated and as I’ve already stated I am a Delta-Level Moron. May god forgive us all.”
